Thread: Ubuntu Sometimes Won't Shutdown?

hey everyone,

installed ubuntu 9.04 desktop week or on following machine:

hp workstation xw6200
video card: nvidia quadro fx 3400
4 gb ram
2x 3.2 intel xeon 64-bit processors

when first tried shutdown ubuntu, went black screen , nothing happened. had use switch. thought might acpi issue made sure acpi enabled in bios , added grub boot option acpi=force. when tried shutdown next time, worked!....then tried again thinking fixed.....it didn't work. seems break , fix randomly. tried bunch of startup , shutdowns without real hardcore os use in between. again, @ seemingly random times, not shutdown properly, while @ others, shuts down fine.

have idea cause , solution problem?

in advance!
zane

update: have started notice after using computer extended period of time (30 mins - 1 hr) never shuts down correctly. extremely annoying problem! can please me this?

can provide,
zane
