Moved 1.0.11/VM to new server - template now blank. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi all.

i've researched similar issues on forum until fingers started bleeding.. okay..they aren't bleeding hurt.

here's situation.

i moved working joomla 1.0.11/virtuemart  installation ( files +db) new server.

currently,

1) front page blank when keep template created/rebuilt.  blank. admin access a-okay except item 3 below.

2) if switch templates default solarflare, front page work, there no data in modules. few sample content items , template's images/structure showing.

3) sessions folder not set , unwriteable. i've asked staff change per suggestions i've found on forums can't because:

"re: making changes php.ini ---- can't make sessions directory in home of folder because php install shared multiple websites on server.  /tmp 777 (world writeable).  i'm not sure if issue @ hand.  (causing blank front page)"

in old installation automatically points /tmp/  on new installation, not list folder , says unwriteable.

would have effect of data not showing in instance 2 above?

4) no errors popping up  500, 404 etc.

things have done.

a)  i've repaired/optimized of tables (as per suggestion here) after move (still doing no change of yet) hasn't done anything.

b) re- transfer files (not db) server again see if corruption issue

c) ran automated fault finder test file find out if settings correct. corrected 1 issue in config file, no change.

d) played permissions... no change

e) pulled out hair , cursed few million times.  :-[

i can't give url publically. security issues, contracts signed, etc.

thanks babying me through this. did best scour forum answers before posting.

this first server move of joomla, it's learning experience.

check condifuration.php has been updated point new absolute url , if live_site has changed, update too. /tmp needs writeable, need team in that.
