Seeeduino GPRS + Prepaid phone service

so received seeeduino gprs/gsm v1.0 board, , haven't yet purchased plan yet.  own prepaid phone tracfone service, unfortunately sim card works on phone registered , nothing else - not other tracfone phones, needless say, doesn't work on board.

i wondering if knew of based prepaid phone services proven work this.  i'm sure at&t , verizon work fine, i'm not interested in having full plans that.

i have gprs shield use device built sent me text message when power goes out (so can make sure sump pumps power before basement floods).

i use t-mobile prepaid sim. need occasional sms messages, determining factor me on best deal happens cost vs. time until expires, since never come close using credits buy. t-mobile 90 days $10.

i did @ at&t well. have prepaid plans work too. particular situation weren't of deal, there other situations better deal. example, if need send tons of sms messages, at&t has plan unlimited sms $20/month.

either work on gprs shield. 2 major carriers use gprs standard (verizon & sprint use cdma, doesn't use sim cards), there boutique providers out there well. use sim cards should work.

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible). Smoothing Capacitor value?

hi everyone! i have question "smoothing capacitors". have 5v arduino project have 6 individual 5v components attached it. since need these running @ different times, wanted take similar approach of nick gammon's in helpful example (http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/?id=12106) , use few mosfets switch these little guys on & off individually (instead of regular arduino pins), while minimizing potential power surges affect microcontroller and/or components themselves. these components 5v, , have maximum draw of ~170ma when powered on @ same time. so, if used 6 different mosfet switches turn switch +5v power line on each component directed via arduino uno, wondering: 1. still use 1 capacitor (like nick did in example)? 2. capacitor of 100uf work, or should use bigger? my plan first test circuit mosfets & capacitor(s) using usb, , later on, moving project battery power. thanks in advance ideas & suggestions! quote these little guys what ...
