Arduino light organ

hey,

i'm building light organ school , want using simple spectrum analyzer.
i have found perfect code need , have mega 2560 sittin around (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyu6hgwiyw8), ordered leds, resistors yada yada struggle find way audio signal electret mic arduino. have tried circuits using transistor didn't work @ all. , want keep count of parts , hassle (classes starting next week already) down minimum thought of using ic dude video uses. filthy tda7231 hard in country , 1 shop had listed , available ordered there seems don't have , need alternative amp ic requires same parts (because have ordered them , not time order different ones).

can give me advice on ic use? googled didn't find exact thing need do.

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible).
