Images: "Long Description"?

when insert image dreamweave cs3, you're prompted enter
values alternate text , "long description," i'm not familiar
with. default value long description html://, suggests
that 1 supposed enter url.

i gather long description accessibility feature, what's
it about? supposed literally enter more detailed
description offered alt text, or supposed link
web page has more information?
