Triacs VS relays

on ebay see lot of single relay boards, 8 channel relay boards, optocoupled relay boards, , on, never see triac boards. had project solenoid valves, switching them relays made lcd display go wonkey, used (bt139) triac instead. after worked fine.

why aren't triacs used more widely?  (it isn't particularly expensive, triac + optocoupler 2 dollars.)
|s there big disadvantage don't know of?

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible).
