Rotary Encoder Problem!

i'm new arduino , i'm not coding, manage make arduino work midi controller project using codes internet , editing those.
anyway major problem have rotary encoder. have read every posts can find encoders, can't make work. can connect encoder arduino, have mega 2560, work 1 direction. there can me that?

you didn't post code you're working , didn't post wiring diagram between encoder , arduino.
