Could not play videos - iso, mp4 etc from hdd - Raspberry Pi Forums
hi folks,
posting think may others (posted on xbian formus well):
last week got hold of external hdd - plan being put dvds on , play them rpi2/kodi/xbian.
without going in detail, first batch of films when on hdd , played fine - dvd shrink coped majority...some had done using trail version of dvd fab.
going well, until yesterday, when file transfer hdd seemed slow down. having scanned hdd, found no problems - copy...not faster, got there in end.
today, connected hdd rpi2 - none of films had done day before ran.
after head-banging , file re-generation, resorted trying mp4 format, rather iso - still didn't work.
so, basics:
on windows 7, toshiba 1tb hdd.
run mp4 windows - runs ok
run mp4 hdd under rp12/xbian - error reading file (from log).
run mp4 hdd under windows - error reading file.
files appear same, but....
having trawled web, found 'similar' issues hdd/usb drives/sd cards etc., advising same kind of thing...e.g. corrupt file/corrupt disk - not real help.
ding! penny dropped...a few days ago when hdd connected win7, changed drive/folder optimization option general videos (seemed idea @ time).
so, have changed option 'general' , works fine.
hope helps others, spent while trying bottom of one.
