Thread: Sudden death of sound in 9.04

i using ubuntu 9.04, , have pretty since launched. previous that, i've been ubuntu user since 6.10. inside computer has been creative soundblaster audigy 4 has "just worked" time every time. until security update sunday night. fault not looking, guess. kernel not updated.

whatever happened, sound has died on machine. sound card works because windows (i dual boot) has played sound throughout fine. during boot process speakers make little clicking noise speakers make when initial connection... , nothing. have tried 2 fresh installs - latter coming other sound disabled on motherboard.

results same using pluseaudio, alsa, whatever else.

i've dumped hidden config files in profile exception of .gvfs, not allowed delete because "busy".

i've been banging head against wall couple hours , appreciate here.

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible).
