Thread: gparted : can't make logical or extended partitions / gray options /screenshot inside

i don't know if changes partition table looks :
extended partition having inside partition ubuntu installed in (it 1 inside extended because of changes did time ago, merging 2 partitions) , , 3 primary ones - 1 has music/ 1 windows7 , swap file.

want 9.10 installed though swap , 9,10 on extended : if space , delete windows partition , swap, extended option gray

thought should make swap logical partition able make primary 9.10 , didn't work either, got gray option - primary clickable

there way fix other splitting ubuntu partition?

add screenshot things clearer

with default theme, v icons next of partitions, key-icons. key-icon means partition mounted, , if partitions on drive mounted, gparted won't let alter partition table.

since 1 of partitions mounted @ /, cannot on drive running system. boot ubuntu cd or gparted live cd , partition there.
