Bluetooth Authentication to Keypad to Doorlock

hello everyone,

bit of electronic newb here, try gentle. i'm doing university research project on mfa, decided build implementation of system designed poc. anyway...things have:

• intel galileo (poc written in python, easier migrate)


• breadboard (cables, etc.)


• hc-05 bluetooth module


• tip120 transistor


• a couple 1n4001 diodes


• 5v 3a power supply came arduino

• seco-larm sk-1011-sq keypad (http://www.amazon.com/seco-larm-sk-1011-sq-enforcer-access-control/dp/b001lfpb98/ref=pd_sim_p_3?ie=utf8&refrid=036ncc9dp819chnvcqf4)


• 12v 4a regulated power supply door strike , and keypad

the general idea (without code) use the bluetooth module (remotely android) send dw pin on arduino, allowing transistor output 12v keypad, allowing keypad function. correct pass on keypad allows lock open.

my issue (right now):
i can not transistor output 12v. i've followed sorts of tutorials , can not work. sound feasible project? there i'm missing? can see using dual power supplies. if measure + 12v power supply , - coming middle pin (http://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/tip120.pdf) after base has been set high (from arduino, powered 5v), should see 12v on multimeter, right?

this been main tutorial i've been following off ground. there wrong it?

draw schematic , take photo of cell phone , post it. there no reason why should having problem. wired wrong. based on this:

your wording sounds suspicious . sounds you're trying source 12v  instead of sink it.
