video capture PiNoir + IRlight looks 10x darker than still - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi,

i've got pinoir going on b+ upgraded latest , ir light (classic 36led circular thing) mounted on own stand 5f away, both pointing in same direction.

while using raspimjpeg , watching preview room looks lit , can see pretty clearly. taking still results in better image, far understand due post processing happening after shot. far good.

when hit video recording can see preview instantly getting much darker , resulting video indeed equally dark. doesn't happen same setup during day, ie video equally bright , clear still (of course without filters colours off). preview restored previous light condition stop recording.

given preview changes , changes , doesn't happen in day, i'm wondering if it's kind of exposure mode or awb trigger night condition , ir light.

can shed light on <no pun intended>?

recording enforcing 30fps whilst preview allows more flexibility (normally 15-30fps, or more dependent on exposure mode). exposure time has less frame time, 33ms 30fps, 66ms 15fps. longer exposure time = brighter image.
don't know if raspimjpeg allows requesting particular frame rate in config, in source looking along lines of format->es->video.frame_rate.num = 30;

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible).
