Thread: Athlon or Intel for Ubuntu?

i (am going to) buy latest (very new) processor install run ubuntu.

ultimate question processor buy - should buy athlon or intel?

both offer dual processor. both can run ubuntu.

1 better or less better when comes compatibility issues?

should purchase have least problems in present , future using ubuntu - ?

please post pros/cons of each.

i used use older p4 , running athlon 64 5200+. don't have experience newer intels typically, both work equally well. not cpu need worry board , other components install along cpu. go amd chip cheaper (price wise) , run faster money pay out. make sure if more 3gigs of ram use 64 bit version , nvidia card current ati support video cards lacking.

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible).
