hi all, first post thought share mini arcade project.
saw idea while browsing while , thought "that'd cool project"
, here :d
cabinet made 6mm mdf 12mm mdf base. own design inspired full size cabs , other designs ive seen around.
parts - raspberry pi model b 8gb sd running retropie 2.3
7" lcd , control board removed old portable dvd
amplifier , speakers old computer speakers
12v 3a power supply (lcd, amp, lights , fan run on 12v)
adjustable 3a switching regulator set @ 5.2v pi
4 port usb hub
original xbox controller gutted pcb
, various switches , buttons
didn't many build photos here did take

did have little accident other week though, accidently shorted usb pins 12v supply in turn frizzled usb/ethernet chip after pi not boot , fuse , usb chip red hot.
have new rpi model 2 on way in mean time thought try fix it.
nothing lose , discovering there short on usb chip causing psu die, went removing offending usb chip. did cut legs stanley knife literally chiselled chip off pcb screwdriver.
desoldered rest of chips pins , cleaned pcb little plugged in...
, i'll damned, worked! in went sd card , booted fine, couldn't believe it!

next problem lack of usb after checking out pi's schematic, usb comes out of cpu , straight usb hub chip , goes pair of jumpers on pcb (r36 , r37) goes bottom usb port.

plugged in keyboard, powered , away went! yipee!
still no network tho wifi dongle needs drivers downloaded , there no ethernet anymore, have ordered thishttp://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221730181305 ... ebidx%3ait , works out of box.
end putting pi2 in once arrives pib used other projects 8-)

very nice build, and, say, definition of 'resourceful'.

using a laptop skeleton to build a pi laptop - Raspberry Pi Forums

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible). (i figured remove components inside , fix pie inside , use extended usb cable , connect available usb ports respective holes in laptop skeleton, same headphone out ) . i'm noob when comes pi . on topic appreciated if screen lvds type may possible use screen installing converter board. this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/hdmi-dvi-vga-dr ... 3027&rt=nc need model number of screen , ask seller if work. or search ebay using brand , model number. assuming screen in working order..... back-light not burnt out etc.. other devices...... can used if have usb interface not part of motherboard. have make connector. raspberrypi

Smoothing Capacitor value?

hi everyone! i have question "smoothing capacitors". have 5v arduino project have 6 individual 5v components attached it. since need these running @ different times, wanted take similar approach of nick gammon's in helpful example (http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/?id=12106) , use few mosfets switch these little guys on & off individually (instead of regular arduino pins), while minimizing potential power surges affect microcontroller and/or components themselves. these components 5v, , have maximum draw of ~170ma when powered on @ same time. so, if used 6 different mosfet switches turn switch +5v power line on each component directed via arduino uno, wondering: 1. still use 1 capacitor (like nick did in example)? 2. capacitor of 100uf work, or should use bigger? my plan first test circuit mosfets & capacitor(s) using usb, , later on, moving project battery power. thanks in advance ideas & suggestions! quote these little guys what ...
