Thread: How to Find Files

i've been using ubuntu, edubuntu @ present, couple of years , old hand @ dos, i'm not complete novice @ command line. however, i'm bit stumped something.

use simple backup. backup files descriptively named, in
2009-8-23_17.58.06.555481.linux.ful. last several weeks, when full backup, backup files not destination designate in simple backup. result, seem spraying 5 or 6gb files on hard drive...though occasionally, backup file gets proper destination, have usable full backups.

problem is, i've sprayed many of them around 80-gb hard drive 10gb shy of being full. several weeks ago, had 50gb free.

i've tried find files file browser , dolphin, can't locate them. i've tried locate them command line, no luck.(a bit of difference between dos , linux...!)

can give me tips on how locate things can delete them? if appreciated!

steve

try in terminal window
code:
find / -name "*.linux.ful"
if backup script runs root, prepend 'sudo' - or may anyway; knows

should find out why don't show want. renaming of directories recently? 'special' chars in destination? etc.
