Thread: Do I need a voice modem to filter phone calls?

hi there! run server using ubuntu.

i've been receiving tons of phone calls annoying telemarketers (such nra), , i've tried normal channels them stop. had planned set asterisk (or other software) automatically drop phone calls coming specific numbers.
however, learned specific intel 537 voice modem not work linux.

have number of normal fax/data modems work linux. there way can filter phone calls without purchasing voice modem?

in advance,

derek

is phone service sip based? either way, believe you'd have receive inbound calls through asterisk, , user blacklist feature. easiest way use blacklist function using freepbx. option able block entire area code, if telemarketer tries use different phone has same area code still blocked. see screenshot.

version of asterisk 1.4 , freepbx 2.5.2.2 running on ubuntu 8.10
