Thread: I'm confused....

okay have ati catalyst 9.4 drivers installed ati website... installed using .run sh file.

not have catalyst control center...

in synaptic, see these 2 packages:

fglrx-amdcccle
xorg-driver-fglrx

not installed, mark fglrx-amdcccle installed , says need install xorg-driver-fglrx well... description of says it's 3d proprietary driver ati.... older 1 available in repos , if install won't conflict .run file installed one?!?!

need these packages driver? have these packages in conjunction driver, or instead of? or not @ all?!

there's "hardware drivers" driver says it's not installed , should activate it... , in synaptic there's open source radeon driver installed.... there 4 different ways of getting ati drivers, 3 of fglrx.... , 1 of 3 know catalyst version you're installing.... hardware drivers one, , xorg-driver-fglrx drivers don't tell version of catalyst is... therefore don't know whether use these ones provided ubuntu through repos, or ones off ati site, or open source driver, or 1 suggested hardware drivers..... more confusing?!?!

i'm confused... please clarify!!

unless you've got particular reason use latest drivers, it's best stick version in repos. if mistakenly installed latest drivers amd.com, uninstall them, use synaptic install repo versions.

if want keep latest drivers, check see if ccc available separate download amd.com. iirc, should together. try opening terminal , running ccc.
