Thread: Thunderbird profile not being recognized.


i had reinstall jaunty due borked karmic upgrade.

clean install on separate partition home directory.

odd reason when point thunderbird existing profile picks address books none of emails boxes or account settings appear. @ loss because have upgraded many times in past , pointed profile , voila good. use profile on other machines , works fine.

have lot of mail accounts , emails , have start scratch. know data in profile because folder still correct size.

ideas/suggestions? frustrating.

when reinstalled thunderbird again did remove new profile created when thunderbird started up? know sounds daft question i've found taking steps ensure it set paramount. if don't mind i'll post set of instructions, , you'll know if have missed step.

thunderbird profile can found showing hidden files, please follow steps.

1 - go /home/yourname

2 - press ctrl & h open hidden files & folders

3 - can see file /home/yourname/.mozilla-thunderbird

now instance wish move existing thunderbird profile new hard drive.

1 - install thunderbird on new drive.

2 - open newly installed thunderbird & close immediately

3 - go newly made thunderbird folder: /home/yourname/.mozilla-thunderbird , delete contents inside newly created folder not folder itself

4 - paste existing thunderbird profile /home/yourname/.mozilla-thunderbird

5 - start thunderbird, , see email accounts, contacts & emails
