Machine control + ethernet + many serial connections


hello,

i trying determine best way incorporate many sensors , serial connections in arduino project, , if feasible run many things on 1 uc. project pressure testing vessel uses 24v hardware feed pressure chamber 24v sensors read pressure. know arduino's 10 bit dac low of resolution application using i2c 18 bit dac feed 4-20ma interface goes pneumatic controller. need 18 bit adc read pressure transducer (1-5v analog)

for interface, smartgpu2 seems take serial commands arduino , graphics processing on own. interface needs graph/plot pressure on time (smartgpu2 has rtc) , log data file, smartgpu2 have capability for. smartgpu2 api uses points , lines , should able make decent plot in realtime (< 10hz sampling) have experience using smartgpu2? there else recommend? machine must able serve data on ethernet (maybe using webserver?) , if requested print data on serial thermal printer.

the biggest question arduino uno (or mega) able handle serial connections simultaneously? serial connections interfere timing or datalogging (or reading i2c dacs , adcs?) alot depends on programming run physical limitations memory (arduino mega) or processing power? have seen each of these things work arduino (ethernet, thermal printer, smartgpu2, dacs, adcs) quirky happen when used (at same time)?

from i've read shield wiznet 5100 chip less demanding on arduino enc28j60 type ethernet wiznet chip tcp handling.

24v interfacing going done dedicated circuit using optocouplers , solid state relays, there seems quite bit of information on arduino interfacing 24v industrial gear.

thanks in advance or guidance, have experience programming arduino , have done datalogging projects/pid stuff never many sensors @ once.

nice i/p , p/i, p/i 0.25%fs.  18bit adc higher accuracy device.

can multiplex p/i ?   seems 10hz allow happen.
that eliminate multiple inputs , have 1 sensor, 2 if redundancy.
your post did not state how many sensors used or how many outputs.

high accuracy 4-20 signal not issue, op-amp needed increase span 1-5 volts 0-5 volts.
