problem with edimax wifi usb - Raspberry Pi Forums

so followed troubleshoot guide in section , while did show things done differently had, still did not fix issue.

usb not connect wifi though can see ssid , wlan0 device show when use ifconfig.

when use

code: select all

sudo ifdown wlan0 && sudo ifup wlan0
following lines:

rtnetlink answers: no such process ioctl[siocsiwap]: operation not permitted ioctl[siocsiwencodeext]: invalid argument ioctl[siocsiwencodeext]: invalid argument

1. read /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf password stored in there in clear text. correct?
2. dongle detected, have lsusb # ell ess ess bee
3. dongle need , strange firmware, have dmesg.

i have laptop dead motherboard . can remove components laptop , in anyway possible connect raspberry pi inbuilt display , keyboard on laptop ? (and touchpad if possible).
