Thread: volume log scale
hi
have sound working fine on dell laptop (with ubuntu 9.04). when adjusting volume, pretty 'adjustment' happens @ top end of scale - if decrease volume 3/4 mark using volume control applet (or other software-based volume control tool) audible volume goes zero. ie practical purposes bottom 3/4 of volume scale = 0 , real volume adjustment takes place in top 1/4. additionally, because 'real' volume change occurs in tiny range of controller, hard make fine-grained volume adjustments - tiny move becomes huge jump in sound or jump 'too loud' silence.
know if possible change way volume control maps 'real' volume full range of software volume control used?
hope post clear - know there's more precise terminology i'm trying describe.
many in advance
pete
