Thread: grub on removable

i've been running dual boot system 6-8 months (xp pro + unbuntu 8.04) no big problems, want add vista ultimate mix me software testing.

before adding vista, boot removable drive instead of hdd. have 3 options:

ide super drive (ls-120)
usb super drive (ls-120)
usb flash drive

mb doesn't have built in floppy controller. have spent hours looking best approach, don't see clear direction , have not been able format super drive media.

questions three:

1) approach adding vista, keeping xp , hardy? (will use separate partition xp boot part)

2) boot method of 3 best? gut tells me ide

3) if suggest super drive, should use floppy or 120mb disk?

tia , have great wednesday.

are not superdrives pretty old? use floppy in super drive usb more current, if system boot it.

why want boot removable device? if missing cannot boot. or temporary boot?

can create usb 9.04 nto think can 8.04. can use supergrub or unetbootin create bootable disk or grub entry point systems want boot.
