Thread: Is Ubuntu desktop as advanced as Hildon to enable different wallpapers?

i reading nokia n900, runs debian-based os hildon desktop. following quote caught attention because want have different backgrounds (wallpapers) on jaunty desktop.

the n900 has 4 separate home screens / desktops between can "scroll" swiping finger left right or vice versa. each desktop can have different wallpaper (or set of wallpapers can set screens @ once - instance, can create long panorama, divide 4 pictures , assign them home screens whole panorama smoothly scrolls switch 1 home screen another) , totally different content.
how can enable different backgrounds each of 4 desktops in jaunty? (obviously, i'm not looking touch screen functionality on desktop -- panorama effect on desktop cube, example.)

edit: , don't want sacrifice desktop icons. see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444320

i don't think it's possible without patching nautilus. also, seems old patches no longer work.
